Four players return, injury utopia and Arteta plots victory  – Dream Arsenal international break

Arsenal could have a third straight ideal international break with Mikel Arteta keeping fingers crossed for yet another clean bill of health

The international break is well and truly underway with plenty of games to be played as the last World Cup qualifiers conclude and friendlies take place between nations in familiar grounds. Even Arsenal’s stadium, the Emirates, will host Brazil vs Senegal.

Mikel Arteta, however, has hopes of a dream fortnight in which he will be boosted on several fronts amid a Premier League title race which took its first hit for some time with a draw in Sunderland. The gap to Manchester City is four points with some tricky games to come.

With that said, football.london discusses what a dream break for the Gunners would look like. From players recovering from injury to

Four players return

There are several players who are working hard to return to the field. While Gabriel Jesus is some way away, despite returning to training, others are making strides to try and be involved in the games before the year ends.

Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke are all in contention. Martin Odegaard, however, is still a little way from making a return, as confirmed by the Norway boss.

Injury utopia

In the ideal world, the Arsenal international break of dreams would contain zero injuries whatsoever. With the majority of the available group away with their respective nations, they will have one or two games to play, some more competitive than others.

If Arteta can, for a third straight break in a row, come through without any of his stars suffering problems, it could almost be historic considering the misfortune in previous seasons.

Arteta plots victory

While his players might be away, Mikel Arteta will be back at base and collecting his thoughts from the opening eleven games of the Premier League campaign. However, when the break ends, Arsenal face a triple-threat of games in eight days as they face Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Arteta, therefore, will be hoping to cook up the perfect plan to win all three. However, with four wins from four in the UEFA Champions League, it might be that he looks to rotate in midweek and instead prioritise the league fixtures sandwiching the visit of the German champions.
