Gianluigi Donnarumma to Chelsea transfer latest as PSG contract claim made

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is attracting interest from Chelsea, according to reports.

Donnarumma, 26, is entering the last year of his contract in France, and talks surrounding his stay in France have begun to catch the Blues' attention.

According to the latest news from L'Equipe, Chelsea are a huge fan of the giant Italian international, and behind the scenes, there is talk that his future at Parc des Princes is somewhat uncertain.

His current contract expires in June 2026, and a first renewal proposal has already been sent to the former AC Milan goalkeeper.

Represented by the famous Vincenzo Raiola, Donnarumma reportedly earns an estimated £734,000 per week before bonuses.

It’s claimed that PSG have explored the possibility of replacing Donnarumma, with Lille’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier the favoured option at present.

Speaking earlier this year, Donnarumma made it clear that he wanted to extend his stay with PSG and given his performances in the UEFA Champions League last season, it would be a surprise to see him leave France.

"There are so many rumours," he began. "The truth is that I feel good here and that everyone likes me and holds me in esteem

"I am feeling very good, settled and my priority is to extend [my contract] here."

Manchester United and Manchester City are also reported to hold an interest in the Italy international, but whether he is allowed to leave on a free transfer next summer remains a curveball in any talks.

Donnarumma would also be able to negotiate a free transfer away from the Ligue 1 giants as soon as January, but any willing club would have to be a European suitor.

PSG are set to face Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday, with the winner estimated to pocket a tidy sum of £30m.
