It's claimed that Giorgi Mamardashvili is already considering his future at Liverpool after failing to remain in the starting XI.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper only joined Arne Slot's first-team squad last summer. Liverpool agreed to sign Mamardashvili from Valencia in a £29 million ($38.8 million) deal in August 2024, but he remained at the Spanish club for another season before moving.

Mamardashvili has since played 11 times for the Reds, with five of those appearances coming in the Premier League. He's become Liverpool's second-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson, inheriting the role vacated by Caoimhin Kelleher following the Irishman's £18 million ($24 million) move to Brentford last June.

Mamardashvili was viewed as a signing for the future when Liverpool secured his services, given that Alisson is still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Yet it's believed that the Georgian stopper is frustrated at his lack of minutes at Anfield and is already considering his future. That's according to TEAMtalk, which claims that Mamardashvili could request a loan move to get more regular action next season.

And, as per El Desmarque, Valencia is keeping an eye on the situation for two reasons. Firstly, because it is interested in re-signing Mamardashvili on loan. And secondly, because Valencia would be entitled to a sell-on fee if Liverpool decides to sell the goalkeeper.

It's believed that Mamardashvili is still a popular figure at Valencia. Bringing the goalkeeper back to Spain would be a huge coup for Valencia, a team in danger of relegation this term. Carlos Corberan's players are 13th in the table, five points above the drop zone.

Mamardashvili is unlikely to become Liverpool's No. 1 anytime soon. Alisson turns 34 in October, but he's still playing at a high level.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is out of contract in June, but the Reds have the option to extend that deal until the summer of 2027, something they are expected to do.

And despite the reports, there's still a good chance Mamardashvili will remain as Alisson's back-up for next season. Liverpool is under no pressure to sell or loan the goalkeeper, who is under contract until the summer of 2031.

If Liverpool does agree to send Mamardashvili out on loan for the 2026-27 campaign, it's unclear who would replace him as the No. 2 goalkeeper. Freddie Woodman, the 28-year-old from England, is currently Liverpool's third-choice stopper.

Mamardashvili started his career at Dinamo Tbilisi before completing loan spells at fellow Georgian teams Rustavi and Locomotive Tbilisi. He joined Valencia in June 2021 and soon became the No. 1 goalkeeper, playing 134 games during his time in Spain.

Mamardashvili has represented Georgia's senior team 35 times, including at Euro 2024.

Liverpool.com says: We can't see Mamardashvili leaving next summer, even if he wants to go out on loan. We expect him to remain as Alisson's understudy and could replace him as the No. 1 goalkeeper at the end of next season.
