Giovanni Leoni has spoken for the first time after his transfer to Liverpool was confirmed.
The 18-year-old has joined the Reds from Italian club Parma, becoming the latest in a string of notable signings made by the Reds during the summer window.
Leoni has signed a six-year deal at Anfield, and will be in attendance for this evening's Premier League opener against Bournemouth at Anfield.
Speaking to club media, Leoni explained why he joined the Reds: "Because it's one of the best clubs in the world," he said. "It's not possible to say no to this club. Yes, [it was] easy – because it's one of the best clubs in the world. I didn't say no!"
Leoni added: “I want to improve a lot with my new teammates in training and after on the pitch, in the Premier League and the Champions League.
“I’ll watch the game [against Bournemouth at Anfield tonight] in the stadium, see the game and then after the game it’s a new journey.”
