Tottenham Hotspur fans have now questioned Cristian Romero’s commitment to the club following the centre-back’s latest injury.
Roberto De Zerbi did not begin his Tottenham Hotspur career with any luck on the injury front.
The new Spurs boss was dealt his first blow a few days before his side faced Sunderland in the Premier League, after Mohammed Kudus suffered a setback in training that is expected to keep him out until the summer, with surgery required.
In the match against Sunderland, De Zerbi’s misery was further compounded as club captain Cristian Romero was forced off following a collision with Antonin Kinsky in the second half, an injury scare that left the Argentine in tears.
Romero has since undergone an MRI scan, and the results have now been reported, revealing how long the club captain is set to be sidelined.

Tottenham supporters question Cristian Romero commitment amid injury setback
Spurs have now been dealt a big blow, as Romero could miss the rest of the season following his injury, which will keep him out for five to seven weeks.
But while the Argentine will miss Spurs’ fight for survival, he is expected to be ready just in time for the 2026 World Cup with Argentina.
Tottenham fans who have now caught wind of the latest reports have given their reaction to their captain’s latest setback.
Reacting to the news, one fan pointed to the irony of the situation, saying: “I know it literally is not his fault but it is just so ironic.”
Another supporter questioned Romero’s commitment, adding: “Lol, of course Romero’s going to be fit in time for the World Cup. He does not give a s**t about Tottenham and the other players too. We need to sell Romero this summer and most of this squad because this squad is not good enough and we need a new medical team, new owners and we need to get rid of Lange and Vinai. But obviously ENIC will not sell this club even if we go down.”
Another fan claimed Romero prioritises international duty, stating: “Romero cares more about his country than Tottenham and that is a fact.” One supporter was unhappy with the refereeing decision, saying: “Injures two players in one challenge and yet no card. Disgraceful.”
Another called for a change in captaincy, adding: “Give Gray the armband, he is ready.” One more fan criticised Romero’s reaction, saying: “He was only crying about the World Cup, he would not care if we got relegated, he will just leave, he has never actually properly cared about the club.”

Romero might have played his final game for Spurs
Spurs fans’ frustration with Romero is quite understandable given how inconsistent he has been during the course of this season.
The captain has been guilty of not giving his all, with suspensions and a lack of effort when defending, costing Tottenham already this term.
With him out for five weeks, he could well have played his final game for Spurs, given the transfer speculation surrounding Romero.
Atletico Madrid are still keen on signing the Spurs centre-back, but Tottenham could secure a hefty fee should they sell the Argentine in the summer, given the alleged release clause in Romero’s deal as revealed by his father.
