Glenn Hoddle has weighed in on reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur want to tie Micky van de Ven to a new contract.
Spurs have managed to tie several key members of their starting eleven to new deals over the past few months.
Cristian Romero signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham in August, shortly after being announced as the club’s new captain by Thomas Frank.
Rodrigo Bentancur has committed his future Spurs, while the Lilywhites have also moved swiftly to tie Djed Spence to a new contract.

Glenn Hoddle does not expect Micky van de Ven to sign new Tottenham contract
According to reports, Tottenham are now prioritising tying Van de Ven to a new deal at N17 as they attempt to put an end to the growing interest in the Dutchman from elite clubs around Europe.
Hoddle believes that the 24-year-old will not sign a new deal at Spurs as he is good enough to start for any side in world football.
When asked about Van de Ven’s future, the Tottenham legend told Capital Football: “Van de Ven is still under a long contract. They are looking to sign him now on a long contract. I don’t think he will sign.
“But he’s still got three years on his contract. I think they will want to try and keep him because he is a world-class performer and probably the only one that we have who is world-class.
“When I say world class, I mean he’d get into any team, he could go into Man City, Liverpool, you name it – Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain… everyone would want him because he’s that good.”
Spurs have no interest in selling Van de Ven
Several sources have claimed over the last few months that Micky van de Ven is emerging as Real Madrid’s top centre-back target.
Some outlets have claimed that Van de Ven is also on the wishlist of both Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but the Lilywhites are determined to keep the player.
That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who explained a few days ago that Tottenham do not want to lose the Netherlands international and that the likes of Real Madrid would have to break the bank to have any chance of signing the Spurs defender.
