Manchester City were handed fresh injury blows during their goalless draw with Sunderland in the Premier League
Manchester City’s chances of winning the Premier League title were dealt a blow thanks to their draw with Sunderland. City were held to a goalless stalemate at the Stadium of Light on New Year’s Day.
Pep Guardiola and Co. are now four points behind leaders Arsenal in the Premier League table as they prepare to face Chelsea in their next fixture.
City were handed some fresh injury blows during the draw with Sunderland, while also dealing with several players already being unavailable for selection.
Guardiola will be expected to provide a fresh injury update when the City boss speaks to the media ahead of the clash with Chelsea.

Nico Gonzalez
Nico Gonzalez went off at half-time during City’s draw with Sunderland after receiving treatment in the first half with a suspected injury.
It remains to be seen if Gonzalez will be on the sidelines for any length of time or if he will be available to face Chelsea on Sunday.
Potential return date: Unknown.
Savinho
Savinho was substituted with a suspected injury in the 52nd minute of City’s draw with Sunderland, to be replaced by Jeremy Doku.
City will likely assess the Brazilian to determine if the potential injury is severe enough to rule him out of the clash with Chelsea this weekend.
Potential return date: Unknown.
Mateo Kovacic
Mateo Kovacic has been sidelined with an ankle injury since October, and the midfielder is not expected to return anytime soon.
It’s been suggested that Kovacic is not expected to return until the latter stages of the season for City.
Potential return date: February.
John Stones
John Stones has been recovering from a thigh injury since the start of December and was still not fit enough to make his return to feature against Sunderland.
City will hope to have the defender back in the squad in the near future.
Potential return date: Brighton - January 7.
Oscar Bobb
Oscar Bobb has been recovering from a hamstring injury for the last few weeks. It’s still uncertain when the forward will return to the matchday squad.
Potential return date: January.
Other absentees
Omar Marmoush (Egypt) and Rayan Ait-Nouri (Algeria) are both unavailable for City while they participate for their respective countries at the Africa Cup of Nations.
