Guglielmo Vicario has revealed the overriding feeling in the Tottenham dressing room after the club’s 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid.
With Spurs having been thrashed 5-2 in the first leg and having half an eye on the upcoming relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, it would have been easy for them to take their eye off the ball on Wednesday.
However, the Tottenham players showed real belief right from kick-off and gave the La Liga side a few scares.
Spurs were very good value for their 3-2 win, which is their first under Igor Tudor, who insisted Tottenham are finally seeing the fruits of their hard work in the training ground.

Guglielmo Vicario claims Tottenham could have put Atletico Madrid under even more pressure
The Tottenham number one insisted that the Lilywhites have a lot of positives to take from their performance on Wednesday and that the players are proud of what they delivered.
Vicario also claimed that Spurs are in a much better physical condition than they were previously.
Speaking after their 3-2 win over Atletico, the Italy international told TNT Sports: “Tonight, it was a game of moments. I think we were close to go over the edge, I would say, because we had a lot of situations in the first half where we could’ve gone to the break at 2-0.
“But I think a lot of positives to take from tonight from every aspect. We showed what we need to show every game, so of course it’s a good build-up into the next games. It gives us a lot of confidence, and we are very proud of what we did tonight.
“Of course, we are disappointed because we couldn’t go through. That’s football. But the important thing is that we have good energy now, good freshness for what we showed tonight. So it’s a good point to start. I think we fought hard, a lot of duels won, ground duels, aerial duels, second balls.
“A lot of running from the team, I think the team now is in a better physical place because we have more endurance also during the game, so we keep running until the last second.”
Vicario praises the efforts of the Spurs fans
The Tottenham players played with intensity and attacking intent, and the home crowd, who have had little cheer on all season, responded by getting behind the team.
Vicario referred to the support of the fans on Wednesday as ‘incredible’ and insisted that he and his teammates are now ready to give everything they have in the eight league matches left.
The goalkeeper added: “Of course, then we have the energy of the fans today. They’ve been unbelievable, they’ve been incredible to support us until the last second.
“So all these kinds of things we need to keep with ourselves and show everything in the next games. It’s crucial at this point of the season, to give everything we have. But today is a positive point to start.”
