All the latest Manchester City news as Pep Guardiola provides an update on Erling Haaland following the draw against Arsenal in the Premier League

Pep Guardiola has provided an update on Erling Haaland's fitness following Manchester City's clash against Arsenal. The 25-year-old striker was replaced by Nico Gonzalez during the second half of Sunday afternoon's 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Haaland put City ahead inside the opening quarter of an hour after catching the Gunners on the counter-attack. The Norway international had the chance to double his tally shortly before coming off, but he was denied by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

He's now scored six goals in his first five games of the new Premier League season, taking an early lead in the race for the Golden Boot. If City are to challenge Liverpool and Arsenal for the title this term, Guardiola will need Haaland to be at his very best.

So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News has rounded up all the latest City injury news.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

Erling Haaland

Haaland was taken off in the final quarter of an hour of Sunday afternoon's clash. It looked like a tactical decision at the time, but it's transpired that the Norwegian was nursing a back problem.

What Guardiola has said: "At the end he was exhausted, a lot of pain in his back. He was suffering the last few days. It's so demanding and he will take a break a little bit to the last games."

Expected return date: Burnley (H) – Premier League – Saturday, September 27.

Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic underwent surgery on an Achilles injury back in June. The 31-year-old midfielder missed the defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at the end of last season, and he's been out of action ever since.

What Guardiola has said: "Kova is coming back soon."

Expected return date: October.

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Ait-Nouri appeared to suffer an ankle injury on his home debut against Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old defender, who didn't report for international duty earlier this month, missed the Manchester Derby and the Arsenal clash.

What Guardiola has said: "Of course, the schedule has an effect. Your mindset has to be strong. You know how many injuries we have and players come back from the national team for a long time. We have Cherki, we have Ait-Nouri."

Expected return date: Unknown.

Rayan Cherki

Cherki is currently nursing a thigh injury. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been ruled out until late October.

What Guardiola has said: "He’s out for two months. Seven or eight weeks."

Expected return date: Bournemouth (H) – Premier League – November 1, 2025.

Omar Marmoush

Marmoush suffered a knee ligament injury while on international duty earlier this month. The 26-year-old forward was forced off during Egypt's goalless draw with Burkina Faso, and he was pictured wearing a knee brace and using crutches after the game.

He was ruled out of the Manchester Derby following initial results on a scan. Guardiola later indicated that Marmoush will be on the sidelines until the start of October.

What Guardiola has said: "A few weeks, I think, before the next international break, he will be ready."

Expected return date: Brentford (A) – Premier League – October 5, 2025.
