Harrison Reed produced an incredible strike to deny Liverpool a win over Fulham, and the midfielder has insisted his side was deserving of its point at Craven Cottage

Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed has claimed he knew he would get the chance to score his spectacular equalizer against Liverpool, and insisted that his teammates deserved their dramatic point.
The Reds were denied a first win of 2026 after Reed’s incredible stoppage-time strike from distance secured a 2-2 draw for the hosts. Liverpool had looked on course to strengthen its hold on the Premier League top four when Cody Gakpo scored just moments earlier, following Florian Wirtz’s controversial equalizer.
Reed though made the most of Arne Slot’s gamble to defend a long throw backfiring as he picked up Kevin’s pass and let fly from distance, leaving Alisson Becker no chance as the shot arrowed into the top corner of the net.

“I knew we were going to get another chance, I thought it would be a bit more clear cut than that, but it came to me nicely.
"Kev has given me the ball and I had no other option but to hit one. What a feeling. Not sure on the celebration, I was a bit everywhere, but a deserved point definitely.”

Fulham had taken the lead in the first half when former Liverpool player Harry Wilson gave the hosts the lead, before Wirtz levelled things in the second half after a VAR review, despite replays seemingly showing the German international had been in an offside position.
Wirtz himself has admitted he thought he had been standing in an offside position, while Fulham boss Marco Silva claimed the goal was a “clear offside”.
That moment of controversy threatened to derail the hosts, although Reed insists they at least deserved a share of the spoils.
"When you watch it, especially the first half, we had real control of the game - maybe not as much with the ball but out of possession we nullified them a lot,” Reed said.

“They didn't really look like threatening us at all and Haz [Wilson] does what he does best and gets us ahead.
"Then in the second half they put a few more bodies forward, pressed a bit higher and got their goal. I thought it was maybe offside, but after we dealt with it really well and we take the point.”
Liverpool.com says: Reed's goal was a bit of a freak moment - we doubt he'll score another goal like that. Still, it is worrying for Liverpool that after scoring what should have been the winner deep into stoppage time, the opposition can still feel like they're going to get another chance. That underlines just how poor the defense has been this season.
