Bayern Munich were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday evening with both Harry Kane and Vincent Kompany expressing desire to face the Gunners again
Harry Kane has issued a warning to the Gunners that he's ready for a rematch following Bayern Munich's defeat in North London. The German side suffered a 3-1 loss in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, as Arsenal made their intentions clear to their European competitors.
Jurrien Timber put the home side ahead, but Lennart Karl managed to level the score. However, Arsenal refused to be held back, with Noni Madueke and Leandro Trossard netting goals to secure victory for Mikel Arteta's men.
The Gunners also succeeded in preventing former Tottenham player Kane from scoring his usual goal against them. Despite failing to find the back of the net, the England skipper is eager for another encounter with Arsenal later in the tournament.
Reflecting on Wednesday's match, Kane stated: "It was a tough game which is kind of what we expected. It was a good battle in the first half which was fairly even.
"Second half we didn't quite have the same energy or intensity and we lost too many duels. It's our first loss of the season. We don't want to panic too much about it. But we will learn about it for sure.
"They won the first and second balls. Set pieces, we knew they would be dangerous. I'm sure we'll see them [Arsenal] again in the later stages of the Champions League.
"They defended man for man pretty much all over the pitch. As I said, I don't think it's time to panic. We have played Chelsea, and Paris St-Germain and Arsenal away. We have won the majority of our games."
While Kane is eager to face the Gunners again should the knockout stages present another opportunity, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany shares that sentiment. He said: "Losing is part of football.
"It actually felt like we were getting better and better in the first half. We didn't start badly but Arsenal's set pieces are extremely dangerous – that changed the momentum."
The Belgian added: "I hope we'll meet them again at some point, though, and then we'll see how the next phase goes. The Champions League won't be decided now.
"But we have to honestly say that Arsenal were better today. We need to resolve that from Saturday. I had the feeling that the boys are already hungry for the next match again."
Arsenal currently lead both the Champions League and Premier League standings with 14 victories from a possible 17 fixtures across all competitions. The Gunners face their closest challengers for the domestic title this weekend as they make the trip to Chelsea, while Belgian outfit Club Brugge await them in their next European encounter.
