Tottenham icon Harry Kane has a £54million transfer release clause that can be activated in January
Harry Kane has revealed he plans to sit down and discuss a new contract with Bayern Munich in 2026. The England captain is arguably in the best form of his career after rattling in 20 goals from 13 appearances in all competitions this season.
Kane has also struck seven times for England this calendar year and Bayern are desperate to extend his stay in Bavaria. The 32-year-old has already made it clear that the feeling is mutual, though Bayern's hectic fixture schedule means there is currently no time for formal discussions.
The prolific marksman's contract, which runs until 2027, does contain a release clause, however, Kane doesn't envisage switching clubs anytime soon despite speculation he could return to Tottenham.
Kane said: “The talks won’t take place next month, but perhaps in the new year. We’ll discuss it then. We’re in a good position, I feel good. We’re not rushed. I’m not, and I don’t think the club is either.”

The striker also shared his delight that Kompany has signed fresh terms, stating: “Kompany is a big part of the club and a big part of why I enjoy being here so much.
“The extension is great news. Vinnie is important, and it’s good to know he has such a long contract now. When the talks start, we’ll see what happens.”
Kane will be 34 by the time his contract is up at the Allianz Arena. He has frequently played down suggestions he's keen to move back to the Premier League where he could still break Alan Shearer's all-time goalscoring record.
In January, Kane is available for £54million due to a release clause mechanism that is written into the terms of his current contract. Tottenham also have a first-option clause, meaning they can match offers from other clubs.
Given the World Cup is also due to take place next summer, Kane is unlikely to consider moving as he targets more silverware with Bayern.
Speaking in September, Spurs boss Thomas Frank made it clear England's all-time record goalscorer would be welcomed back with open arms. "I didn't know there was a clause," Frank said. "He is an unbelievable player who did fantastic for Spurs and is doing fantastic for Bayern. Top player.
"I think there's a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back. Personally, I don't think he will do it right now if I'm honest. He'll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.
"He was top scorer last year, won the championship and he's doing fantastic now. I don't know what he's thinking. Myself, I'm a traveller, I like to travel, I like to explore things as well. He's been here for many years so why not enjoy the time at Bayern a little bit more? But he's welcome. If he wants to join us, he's more than welcome!"
