Harry Kane has revealed that he spoke to James Maddison after the Tottenham midfielder’s injury blow and the former Spurs striker wished his former teammate a quick recovery.

When Maddison was stretchered off during the 1-1 draw against Newcastle in South Korea, it was immediately clear that it was no small injury as the former Leicester man was in tears.

His worst fears have been confirmed, with scans revealing that Maddison has suffered an ACL injury and is expected to miss the majority of the upcoming season.

It comes as a huge blow for the 28-year-old, who had just recently recovered from the knee injury which saw him miss the Europa League final.

This injury also seriously diminishes the Tottenham Hotspur man’s chances of accompanying Harry Kane on the plane to the United States for next year’s World Cup.

The England captain, who scored against his former side in Bayern’s 4-0 win at the Allianz Arena on Thursday, admitted that Maddison was distraught at the injury.

When asked about the midfielder’s blow, Kane said (via Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel): “Gutted for him, I spoke to him earlier, and you know he’s obviously gutted, and yeah, I love Madders as a person, I love him as a player.

“It’s so unfortunate to have that injury, come back, and then do it again. So, just sending best wishes to him… but he has to stay strong, and be ready for the comeback next year.”

Radu Dragusin sends a touching message to James Maddison

One man who knows what it takes to work his way back from an ACL injury is Radu Dragusin, with the Romanian currently on the mend after tearing his ACL back in January.

Dragusin vowed to be with Maddison through his rehabilitation, just as the midfielder was there for him over the last few months.

According to reports, Dragusin is considerably ahead of schedule in his recovery, and Spurs fans will be hoping Maddison is also able to return to the field quickly and have a strong end to the season.
