Heung-min Son reveals when he made the decision to leave Tottenham

Heung-min Son has revealed when he decided that he should leave Tottenham, and has spoken about whether that is the reason why he has looked sad during pre-season.

Son’s confirmation that he will be leaving Tottenham did not come as a surprise to Spurs fans, given the noises that have been coming out of the club over recent weeks.

Perhaps the biggest hint came a couple of weeks ago when Thomas Frank admitted that Tottenham face a ‘tricky’ decision on Son’s future, given how long he had been at the club.

That perhaps came as confirmation that the South Korean was not going to feature at the forefront of the Dane’s plans. It has since been revealed that Son has decided to leave the club on a high, just two months on from lifting the Europa League trophy in Bilbao.

Heung-min Son asked about being sad on Tottenham pre-season

The Tottenham legend has not been his usual bubbly self in pre-season so far, and he has now admitted that he decided to leave N17 a while ago.

The forward insisted that, despite having made up his mind to exit the club, he was keen to keep things under wraps and not adversely affect the dressing room morale.

When asked about the fact that he looked a little sadder than usual in Hong Kong, the Spurs star said (via Football.London): “It’s been a while since I decided to leave the club. It was not easy days or weeks for me. I always try to be happy, and I’m happiest when I’m playing football, but it’s not easy to leave the club where I spent 10 years, light-hearted.

“I tried not to give any negative impact on other players, didn’t want to make any sort of noise, but it was inevitable that people noticed my feelings. My fans even know my habits, so they could notice it, but I’ll try to have a good time for the two days while I’m in here.”

Son continues talks with MLS side

While the Tottenham Hotspur superstar has confirmed that he is on his way out, he is yet to announce which club he is going to join, but there is a clear frontrunner.

It was reported by Florian Plettenberg on Friday that talks between Son and Los Angeles FC are continuing as the MLS side try to wrap up a deal for the forward.

It was previously claimed by GiveMeSport that Son is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with LAFC, with Tottenham ready to accept a cut-price fee from the Californian side to facilitate the transfer.
