Liverpool is bracing itself for the absence of Alisson for a staggering eight games following the revelation of his injury layoff.
Alisson was forced to exit during Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League after sustaining a hamstring injury. The 33-year-old is now anticipated to be out of action until after the international break in November, according to reports from The Athletic.
His spell on the sidelines commences with this Saturday's Premier League journey to Chelsea. Following this month's international break, Liverpool will welcome Manchester United to Anfield, a period during which Alisson will also miss two fixtures for Brazil.
The Reds' schedule includes matches against Eintracht Frankfurt, Brentford, Crystal Palace (Carabao Cup), and Aston Villa before their highly anticipated showdown with Real Madrid on November 4.
Just five days later, Liverpool will face off against Manchester City in the Premier League. The team's first match post-November internationals will be a home game against Nottingham Forest on November 22.
In the interim, new recruit Giorgi Mamardashvili will be called into action. The Georgian made his debut during the recent 2-1 victory over Southampton that secured Liverpool's spot in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
However, he was unable to assist Arne Slot's team in overturning the deficit in Turkey following his enforced introduction. Alisson sustained the injury just shy of the hour mark, with Galatasaray leading 1-0 courtesy of a Victor Osimhen penalty.
It was following his denial of Osimhen's second strike that the 33-year-old was spotted in discomfort.
After the match, Slot confessed: "If one of our players is on the floor nine times out of 10, I fear the worst, and with the worst I mean he cannot continue, and that is what happened with Alisson.
"He will not be able to play Saturday, that is 99.9 percent (certain), although I think it is 100 percent."
Liverpool has yet to issue a statement regarding Alisson's injury. Slot is anticipated to provide clarity on the matter during his press conference on Friday.
Liverpool will be looking to return to winning form at Stamford Bridge, having dropped its previous two fixtures. Slot may also be without Hugo Ekitike, who was similarly withdrawn in the second period.
"He felt something when he had to reach for the ball," Slot said of Ekitike. "I think we all know which one it was when we were trying to force something. I think at that moment in time, on the other side there was someone on the floor as well, so the referee blew his whistle and I wasn't even thinking we had an injury, but Hugo felt something.
"After the game, that's always the difficult thing with these moments when players feel like it is not too bad, but when you just walk around it is something different than when you make a sprint or have to shoot on target. He said he couldn't continue so we had to take him off. Let's see how he is for the weekend."
