How many matches Richarlison will miss for Tottenham as Thomas Frank searches for new attacker

Richarlison is set to miss some huge matches for Tottenham Hotspur after Thomas Frank confirmed how long the Brazilian is expected to be out for.

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be suffering severe setbacks just as they start to see some light at the end of the tunnel with their injury situation.

That has now happened again. While Spurs have been boosted by the return of Dominic Solanke and the news that Dejan Kulusevski is edging closer to fitness, they have suffered two significant blows.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been ruled out for a minimum of three months with a hamstring injury, while Richarlison has now joined the Uruguayan on the treatment table.

Richarlison is set to miss 10 matches for Tottenham

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Richarlison will be sidelined for seven weeks after he too went down with a hamstring injury during Tottenham’s FA Cup loss to Villa.

That means that the Brazilian will miss a crucial juncture of the season, with the Lilywhites set to play some huge Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

Here are the 10 matches that Richarlison will miss if he is out for seven weeks:

  • 17 January: Premier League, West Ham (H)
  • 20 January: Champions League, Borussia Dortmund (H)
  • 24 January: Premier League, Burnley (A)
  • 28 January: Champions League, Eintracht Frankfurt (A)
  • 1 February: Premier League, Man City (H)
  • 7 February: Premier League, Man United (A)
  • 10 February: Premier League, Newcastle United (H)
  • 22 February: Premier League, Arsenal (H)
  • 1 March: Premier League, Fulham (A)
  • 4 March: Premier League, Crystal Palace (H)

Spurs need Dominic Solanke to get upto speed quickly

Having missed six months of football, one would expect Solanke to be eased into proceedings and take some time to get his sharpness back.

That means that Frank will have to continue relying on Randal Kolo Muani to lead the line, which is far from ideal as the Frenchman has lacked quality in the final third.

Tottenham desperately need Solanke to find his confidence and sharpness back quickly, and the only way that is going to happen is if he gets a couple of goals within the next two or three weeks.

Thomas Frank has at least admitted that Tottenham are searching for new attacking options in the January transfer market.
