Arsenal's woeful home loss to Bournemouth has given Manchester City a massive opportunity to drag them back.

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 at home by Andoni Iraola's side, 24 hours before Pep Guardiola takes his title-chasers to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Had Arteta's team overcome the Cherries, they would have moved 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League, albeit with the Cityzens having two games in hand.

Instead, victory at the Bridge, coupled with a win over Arsenal next week and a triumph over Crystal Palace in their game in hand (which still does not have a date) would see City, most likely, move above the Gunners on goal difference. Arteta called for calm after the loss to Iraola's side, insisting their destiny is still in their hands.

After the match, Arteta said: "It's painful, it's a terrible feeling, but tomorrow is a different day. If somebody would have said to me in August we are in this position right now in April, I'm sure we would all take it."

With Arteta's message in mind, football.london takes a look at what the Gunners need to lift their first Premier League title since the historic Invincibles side of 2004.

When it comes to the number of points Arsenal need to win, this will also hinge on what City are able to pick up in their final matches against Chelsea, the Gunners, Burnley, Everton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. However, it's getting to a point where Arsenal may now need to win five of their six matches at a minimum to claim the title.

In their final run-in, Arsenal face City, Newcastle United, Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Palace. Arteta's side can finish the campaign with a maximum of 88 points, which includes the points they'd pick up if they beat City - and would guarantee them the title.

If City win all of their matches, including the game against Arsenal, they can only finish on 85. If Arsenal lose to City, but win the rest of their fixtures, they will also finish on 85, meaning goal difference would be needed to split them.

Arsenal's goal difference is currently +38, while City's is +32. A 3-0 victory for Guardiola's side next week would put both sides at +35.

If their goal difference remains the same come the end of the season, it would then be a question of goals scored. At present, Arsenal are on 62 goals, while the Cityzens are on 60. The margins could not be much finer at present.

While next week's clash at the Etihad Stadium has been billed as a potential title decider, the results of City and Arsenal's other games will likely decide what colour the ribbons on the Premier League trophy will be.

Arsenal are also competing in the Champions League, while City are still in the FA Cup. Crucially, the Gunners face Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, which may have an effect on next Sunday's huge clash.
