After suffering a concussion in Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, Lucas Bergvall could be ruled out for several matches.
The Swede suffered a head injury in the early minutes of Saturday’s London derby and failed the on-pitch concussion test.
Despite his protestations, the midfielder was deemed not fit to continue by the Tottenham medical staff and had to be withdrawn in the seventh minute.
Thomas Frank has admitted that losing Bergvall so soon against Chelsea affected his side’s game plan, and the Dane now also faces the prospect of being without the teenager for several matches.

Lucas Bergvall could miss the next three matches for Tottenham
As per the FA’s rulebook, a player suffering from a concussion needs to be evaluated in the aftermath and is not allowed to engage in any sporting activity over the next one to two days.
There is an expectation of a gradual return-to-play (GRTP) that can last as long as 21 days, including an initial 14-day rest period.
As a result, the teenager is almost certain to miss the upcoming Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night, while he could also be a doubt for the club’s next Premier League clash against Man United next Saturday.
Further, if Bergvall is out for the full advised period of the GRTP protocol, he may also miss the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on November 23rd.
Spurs’ injury list continues to remain bloated
This news regarding Bergvall is the last thing that Thomas Frank needed, with Tottenham already having a long list of injury absentees.
The good news for Spurs is that Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert, and Destiny Udogie came off the bench in the second half against Chelsea.
However, to lose Bergvall for three games will come as a huge blow to Frank, especially given Spurs’ creative struggles.
