Mathys Tel’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur has taken another frustrating turn, with fresh reports shedding light on how his camp has reacted to a latest setback on the European stage.
It has been a bumpy ride for Mathys Tel since his permanent transfer in the summer window, with the young Frenchman enduring a difficult start to life in north London.
The forward missed one of the spot kicks in Spurs’ Super Cup final back in August and was also omitted from Thomas Frank’s initial Champions League squad.
However, an extended spell on the sidelines for Dominic Solanke allowed Tel to earn a place in the squad, stepping in for the England international for a brief moment during his six-month absence.
But with Solanke now back fit, new reports claim the striker is set to reclaim his place, leaving Tel omitted once again and set to miss the Borussia Dortmund clash.

Tottenham Champions League squad decision affects Mathys Tel
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed how Mathys Tel’s camp feels following the 20-year-old’s omission from the Champions League squad.
According to the respected journalist, it is understood that the forward’s camp is unhappy with Thomas Frank’s latest decision.
Providing an update on the situation, Romano wrote on social media: “Tottenham manager Thomas Frank excludes again Mathys Tel from Champions League squad list. Frank makes space for Dominic Solanke and the only way was to remove Tel. The French striker and his camp not happy at all with the decision.”

Spurs future remains uncertain for Tel
Having struggled for game time in the first half of the season, Tel had appeared to work his way back into Frank’s plans, earning consecutive starts.
However, it will feel like two steps forward and one step back for the France Under-21 international, who has found consistency hard to come by since his permanent move to north London.
The January transfer window remains open, and interest in Tel has been growing, but it remains to be seen whether this latest omission will prove a catalyst for a move away from Spurs, with it still claimed that Tottenham do not want to sell Tel this winter.
