Arsenal are favourites for the Premier League title and Gabriel Jesus has made his feelings perfectly clear

Gabriel Jesus has revealed why he is very confident that Arsenal will win the Premier League title. The Gunners currently sit nine points clear of Manchester City at the top with seven games of the season remaining.

Despite finishing second on three consecutive occasions, Jesus has not played down his confidence that Arsenal will finally get over the line in this campaign, with particular praise for how well Mikel Arteta has built the squad.

When asked on 'Rio Ferdinand presents' how confident he was, Jesus replied: "Very confident. Very confident, because we are in a good place and then we have amazing squad.

"Not only who play a lot of games, but squad. Like me, obviously, the last few games I haven't been playing a lot, but still I know myself and then I know Mikel knows this.

"I can come on and then I can decide a game, or I can play one game and then I still can decide again, you know. And with me it's the same with Leo, it's the same with Bukayo, it's the same with Noni, it's the same with Martinelli, with Kai. I'm saying about the attacking players.

"So it's good. If you see our attacking players, it's amazing. So I believe, I believe 100 per cent that this season we are doing something."

Pushed on the mentality shift under Arteta, Jesus revealed: "Obviously it's Mikko, you know, because he changed everything. Like I said, we said before, he came in a moment that was tough.

"And then to see the way we play, the situation we have now, that we can win titles, you know, we are one of the best clubs in the world, teams in the world. So I think it's Mikko Arteta, he had a lot of impact, you know.

Though the north Londoners are in pole position to claim a first league title in over two decades, there are still plenty of twists that could take place. The gap could feasibly close to just three points with a few weeks remaining if City beat Arsenal at Etihad Stadium and also win their game in hand against Crystal Palace.

Jesus has played a secondary role this season, having only recovered from a serious knee injury in late 2025. He has played just 781 minutes this season, with three of his last four starts coming in the FA Cup.

That is the competition for Arsenal's next game as they face Southampton, with Max Dowman another potentially in line for a start. Jesus has also discussed the teenager and revealed his conversation with him recently.

He said: "Max is still 16. He started with us 15. I told you before. When I was 15, I was playing in the streets. I didn't make it yet. It's crazy. So at 15, you are playing Champions League, Premier League, it's crazy.

"And I ask him after the game, he scored, I say, how was school today? Because it was Sunday, and then Monday I say, how was school today? And he was like, no, I'm going later. I say, oh, okay.

"Because in Brazil, if this happens, it's impossible to go to school. It's impossible. The people, the fans, yeah. It's impossible. So he's very good, Max, very good. And he's there. He's there, definitely. He's there."
