Things are going from bad to worse for Mikey Moore at Rangers, and the Tottenham academy starlet might already be regretting his decision to join the Scottish giants on loan.
There was plenty of excitement from Tottenham Hotspur fans when Moore made the loan switch to Scotland, with many excited to see what he can do in the Scottish Premiership and potentially the Champions League.
However, the Spurs youngster will have to settle for Europa League football this season after Rangers were knocked out in the final qualification round.
While Moore has shown some glimpses of his quality, things are going from bad to worse for Rangers results-wise, and the Tottenham man did not have a memorable game on Saturday.
Tottenham’s Mikey Moore hooked at half-time as Rangers fall to another defeat
Moore started for Russel Martin’s men against Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday, but he was one of three players hooked at half-time, with the home side trailing 1-0 at the time.
The changes made no difference as Hearts added another in the second half to walk away with a 2-0 win over Rangers.
Following the latest loss, the Gers have equalled their worst opening run in 47 years and sit 10th in the Scottish Premiership table.
Reviewing Moore’s performance, Glasgow World: “Kevin Thomson said on commentary he felt sorry for the youngster as he was picking up the ball 50 yards further down the pitch than where he’d want it. Although every time he got the ball, he couldn’t hold onto it. Hooked at half time.”
Pundit fears Moore is trapped in a toxic environment
Calls for Russel Martin to be sacked continue to intensify at Rangers, and it is certainly not the ideal environment for the Tottenham youngster to thrive.
In fact, Chris Sutton fears that Moore is trapped in a ‘toxic’ situation at Rangers, with the former Celtic man fearing that the 18-year-old may not get a chance to express himself.
While one would hope that things would turn around for the Spurs attacking midfielder, a recall by Tottenham in January may not be out of the question, provided such a clause has been added to the loan deal.
