World champion Argentina continues its preparations for its title defense ahead of this summer's World Cup as it hosts Mauritania in Buenos Aires on Friday.

The friendly has been hastily arranged after Argentina had been originally scheduled to face Spain in the Finalissima. The game, which was due to go ahead in Qatar, has been cancelled due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Instead, Lionel Scaloni's side will take on the 115th-ranked side in the world and will be expected to lay down a marker, with Lionel Messi and Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister among those expected to feature.
