Manchester United could move eight points clear of Liverpool in the race for the Premier League's top five places with Michael Carrick's side first up in this round of fixtures.

With the Old Trafford outfit not in either domestic cup competition and not playing in Europe this season, it only has Premier League matches to play, which is proving to be a huge advantage. It also means a lot of Friday and Monday scheduling.

This weekend, a victory against Bournemouth on the south coast could move it another step closer to qualifying for the Champions League, with Liverpool at Brighton the next day, Chelsea going to Everton, and Aston Villa hosting West Ham.

In the UK, the game will be shown live on Sky Sports and its Sky GO streaming service. In the US, fans will be able to tune in via the USA Network.

Ahead of the game, Carrick pointed out the importance of set-pieces in Manchester United's recent upturn in form.

"First of all, it's probably more important than it's ever been," Carrick told club media. "It's always been important and I feel that it has a big impact in games, it feels like a lot more of them are going in.

"It's good that we've had success with it. It's a little bit on the coaching staff, certainly Jonny [Evans], with his ideas and how it works with the players. To work with them is important, what suits them and what they like.

"We've got certain players who are proven really, in terms of Bruno Fernandes' delivery, Casemiro and Harry [Maguire], in the way they attack the ball, as well as others.

"I think it's important it's a kind of mixed decision, if you like, and what works for everyone because they've got to do it. Jonny works with that quite closely and we've had good success, so hopefully that continues."

Manchester United will be without Patrick Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt, who are out injured. Lisandro Martinez, though, is getting close to a return.

Carrick has been able to name a very settled line-up with no other players missing. Fernandes is in fantastic form as the primary playmaker, teeing up the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo.

Conversely, injuries have been a constant struggle for Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. They are now missing USMNT star Tyler Adams alongside Lewis Cook, Justin Kluivert and Julio Soler.

Alex Scott and Ryan Christie are set to be the central part of the team. Teenage Brazilian winger Rayan, who was bought in January to replace Antoine Semenyo, has also made a great start to life in the Premier League.
