Brazil faces France in a heavyweight international friendly in Boston on Thursday as preparations for this summer’s World Cup begin to take shape.
Carlo Ancelotti is of course now in charge of five-time champions Brazil, but he does have something of a point to prove, with his players having only finished fifth in their World Cup qualifying group in South America. They will face Scotland, Morocco and Haiti in their group when the tournament gets underway in June.
As for France — the 2018 winner and 2022 finalist — Didier Deschamps’ team will be among the favorites again, although it does face a more difficult start to the competition. The French will face Norway, Senegal and a playoff side in their group, and will be aiming to lay down a marker against Brazil later.

Team news
Brazil will be without some big names after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was forced to pull out of the squad, having picked up another injury.
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has also withdrawn following his side's defeat in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City on Sunday.
Brentford striker Igor Thiago though will be aiming to pick up his first cap for his country, having earned a call-up after a superb season in which he has scored 19 league goals.

As for France, Didier Deschamps will be without William Saliba, with the Arsenal defender joining Gabriel in pulling out of the international break.
Barcelona's Jules Kounde is also out with a hamstring strain, but Kylian Mbappe is set to be involved despite struggling with injury recently for Real Madrid.
Liverpool will be keeping its fingers crossed that Ibrahima Konate comes through unscathed. The defender looks likely to get the nod as speculation continues over his future, with his contract at Anfield expiring in the summer.
