The first round of the FA Cup will wrap up tonight with Tamworth taking on Leyton Orient. This weekend certainly kept lower league football enthusiasts entertained with a series of thrilling matches.

A total of 126 goals were netted across 40 matches between non-league, League One and League Two sides.. There was no shortage of local teams winning in the cup games over the weekend, including Oldham Athletic's 3-1 win over Northampton Town, as well as Bolton Wanderers' 2-1 triumph against Huddersfield.

Salford City, owned by David Beckham and Gary Neville, triumphed over 10-man Lincoln City in a penalty shootout, while Wigan Athletic went down to 10 men themselves but still got through to the second round via penalties against Hemel Hempstead.

The FA Cup is the world's oldest national football competition and first kicked off during the 1871/72 season. Over the years there have been numerous cup upsets with lower-tier teams outperforming the Premier League giants.
