The Premier League is back, and defending champion Liverpool kicks off the 2025/26 season against Bournemouth at Anfield later.

Arne Slot's new-look side will be aiming to defend its title, and after a busy summer that has seen the Reds splash out nearly $400 million on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong, they're favorites among a lot of pundits to make it back-to-back crowns.

It's a tricky opener for them though as they come up against a Bournemouth side that impressed last season, although Andoni Iraola has lost some of his stars, including Milos Kerkez, who could come up against his old side today.

What time is kick-off?

The game kicks off at 8 pm UK itme at Anfield. The good news for US fans is that means there's early wake-up call today, unlike most Premier League games!

For fans watching the game Statestide, it's a 3 pm start Eastern Time, while Pacific Time will be 12 noon.

Is the game on TV?

Yes, in fact the game was earmarked especially for TV coverage the moment the fixtures came out this summer.

Fans in the UK will be able to watch all the action live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage getting underway from 6:30 pm. The game will also be available for streaming via Sky Go, or through the Sky Sports website if you get your subscription through another provider.

Early team news

Liverpool looks set to be without Conor Bradley through injury, while Ryan Gravenberch is unavailable through suspension, having been sent off in the Reds' final game of last season against Crystal Palace.

Joe Gomez could return to the bench after missing much of pre-season with an achilles problem, while Kostas Tsimikas could be left out again as interest in a potential transfer for him grows.

As for the visitors, Bournemouth could be without as many as seven players today. Justin Kluivert is definitely out through injury, as is Enes Unal.

Lewis Cook misses out through suspension, with the midfielder also recovering from an injury picked up during the summer. New signing Bafode Diakite is unlikely to be thrown straight in, while Dango Ouatarra and Luis Sinisterra look likely to be left out as transfer interest grows around them.

Ryan Christie is also expected to miss out, although the Scotland international has returned to training this week as he steps up his recovery from injury.
