Manchester City take on Palermo in a final pre-season outing before the new Premier League season begins
Manchester City will hope for a bright start to the new Premier League campaign next week and to help build up their match sharpness face Italian outfit Palermo.
Pep Guardiola's side have had an unusual summer with the FIFA Club World Cup taking place so soon after the 2024/25 campaign began, leaving them to take a break deep into July. Since returning they have played a warm-up match against Preston North End behind closed doors, now this trip to fellow City Football Group-owned club Palermo is the first friendly taking place in the public eye.
The majority of City's transfer business took place before the Club World Cup so the new arrivals have had previous chance to bond. Great focus has been who is not in the 22-man squad taken to Italy as Jack Grealish, James McAtee and Stefan Ortega are all expected to leave before deadline day.
Rodri, who has suffered a new setback, as well as Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Claudio Echeverri have all been deemed not fit enough to feature.

What time does Palermo vs Man City kick off?
The match between Palermo and City will take place at the Renzo Barbera in Italy on Saturday, August 9. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00pm BST in the UK.
Is Palermo vs Man City on TV?
Unfortunately for UK viewers Palermo vs City is not available for live broadcast on television channels this Saturday night.
But fear not as dedicated Manchester Evening News reporters will be on hand to provide live updates, from pre-match build-up and live game updates, right through to post-match analysis of Spurs.
In the United States, supporters have a choice as the match will be available to watch live on DAZN or the CBS Sports Golazo Network, each requiring a paid subscription.

Palermo vs City might not be broadcast on live television in the UK but it is available to live stream instead.
City's in-house streaming service, CITY+, will be showing the friendly unless you are based in Italy, where it is not available. The service can accessed via the club website or official mobile app.
An annual subscription usually costs £34.99 but City are running a promotion ahead of the match that makes it available for the year at £19.99. All supporters have to do is use code 'PALERMO15' at checkout.
