Early team news
Slot will have a big decision to make at right-back. With Dominik Szoboslzai out suspended, and Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong injured, yet another player is going to have to fill in.
The Liverpool boss has all but confirmed it will be one of Curtis Jones or Wataru Endo. Joe Gomez could also come into the thinking, although he is still doubtful, with Slot revealing he was expected to make his return to training on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni remain out injured. The former is expected to make a return before the end of the season, although that is more likely to happen towards the end of the campaign.
As for the hosts, winger Nilson Angulo will be eyeing up his first start for Sunderland, having made his debut off the bench against Arsenal at the weekend.
The Black Cats will be without Granit Xhaka and Bertrand Traore though. The former has an ankle injury, while the latter is recovering from a knee problem picked up during the Africa Cup of Nations.
