Despite an initial rejection, Tottenham Hotspur have continued to push for a deal for Roberto De Zerbi, with a lucrative offer now on the table, and reports have revealed how the north London club feel about their latest proposal.

Since the departure of Igor Tudor only a few hours ago, first-team training at Hotspur Way has been left in the hands of Bruno Saltor.

But Tottenham Hotspur do not expect that to be the case for too long, as they have set a short timeline to get the appointment of a new manager through the door.

Several managers have been linked to the Tottenham job, but Roberto De Zerbi remains the number one choice for the Lilywhites, who have been persistent in their efforts to land the former Brighton manager.

It has been a series of back and forth between the pair. Initial reports claimed that Roberto De Zerbi was not too keen on taking the Tottenham job at this stage of the season.

However, Spurs have looked to persuade in recent hours, offering him a long-term contract that includes substantial relegation clauses.

De Zerbi is said to be considering the latest offer, having rejected the north London club’s initial proposal.

Alex Crook has now revealed that, following the latest round of ongoing talks, Tottenham are more hopeful that De Zerbi will accept their offer.

Spurs need quick appointment ahead of Sunderland fixture

Tottenham desperately need to get this deal over the line, with club football returning soon in a little under two weeks.

De Zerbi will, of course, need some time to work with this group of players if he is to instil his principles before the next game against Sunderland.

Getting him through the door, a manager with Premier League experience, will no doubt be an advantage for Spurs, as he will need little time adapting to the English top flight.
