Tottenham Hotspur could revisit a familiar transfer opportunity this summer, as Andy Robertson makes a big decision on the next step of his career.
It is no secret that Tottenham Hotspur were in the race to sign Andy Robertson during the winter transfer window.
At the time, the Liverpool full-back was set to be available at a bargain fee, and Spurs were keen to land him as they looked to bolster their full-back depth following injuries to Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie.
However, Liverpool prevented Robertson’s move as they too were short at the back. The Reds failed to recall Kostas Tsimikas, and as such, Robertson was forced to remain on Merseyside.

Tottenham on alert as Andy Robertson confirms Liverpool exit on free transfer
While Liverpool could have earned a modest fee from a sale for the full-back in January, following his bargain £8.5 million move from Hull City in 2017, they are now set to let him go for free.
Robertson’s contract will expire this summer, and the Liverpool full-back has now confirmed that he will not be extending his stay any further, bringing an end to a near-decade stay at Anfield.
With his departure now confirmed, Spurs will no doubt be on alert heading into the summer transfer window, having previously shown interest in the full-back in January.
In a statement addressing his exit, Robertson reflected on his time at the club and his decision to move on.
He said: “It is never easy leaving a club like Liverpool. It has been a huge part of mine and my family’s life for the last nine years, but I know football moves on. I know teams move on and now is the time for me to move on.
“I will always look back on amazing memories at this football club. I have put my heart and soul into the club and, when I got my chance, I just wanted to make the people within this club and the supporters proud of the left-back they are seeing performing week in, week out.
“I know my journey is coming to an end. It has been an incredible journey, but I will not let up. This club means everything to me, the fans mean everything to me, the people connected with the club mean everything to me and I think I owe it to them that, until my very last day, I will give everything to the football club, which I have done for the last nine years and I am very proud of that.
“The nine years I will look back on with a big smile on my face and, yes, it has been a hell of a journey.”
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham and Roberto De Zerbi make a move for Robertson this summer, but they will have competition if they do enter the race.
Spurs face competition for Andy Robertson despite free transfer opportunity
Robertson has managed 15 starts for Liverpool this season and aims to play as much football as he can before bringing his career to an end.
To that effect, he will have to consider his options carefully before deciding on his next move, as several clubs across Europe showed interest back in January.
Alongside Tottenham are Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Juventus, who will be alerted by his availability on a free transfer.
His boyhood club, Celtic, still remains an option for Robertson going into the summer, with the appeal of finishing his career in his home country increasing at this stage.
