Hugo Ekitike is on his way to Liverpool, with the striker having been seen boarding a plane ahead of his medical.
The 23-year-old is set to become the latest signing in what has been a busy summer already for the Reds, with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez having already joined, along with goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi. Giorgi Mamardashvili has also arrived after a deal was agreed with Valencia last year.
Now, Ekitike is on the verge of completing his move from Eintracht Frankfurt, with Liverpool having reached a deal with the Bundesliga side that could reach $106 million.
The transfer comes after a rollercoaster week in which the Reds have moved quickly in order to secure Ekitike’s signing, having been knocked back in their approach to Newcastle for Alexander Isak.
That particular saga looks as though it may not be over, with speculation growing over Isak’s future after he was sent home by Magpies boss Eddie Howe before their friendly against Celtic on Saturday.
For the time being, though, Liverpool has secured its new No. 9, with Ekitike scheduled for a medical in London before flying out to Hong Kong to meet up with his new teammates.
And it looks like it might not be too long before he’s jetting off to Asia, with pictures being shared online of the striker boarding a plane with his agent Karl Mwalako.
Ekitike is expected to sign a six-year contract at Anfield, with his addition bolstering what was a priority area for Liverpool ahead of the summer.
Once he completes his medical and puts pen to paper, Ekitike is set to fly out to Hong Kong, where Liverpool will be facing AC Milan in a replay of the 2005 Champions League final on Saturday.
Whether he will feature in that game may be doubtful, with the more likely option for his first appearance coming on July 30 when the Reds take on Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.

From there, Arne Slot and his players will return to Merseyside, with Ekitike likely to get his first taste of the Anfield atmosphere as Liverpool faces Athletic Bilbao in a double-header on August 4.
He will then get his first opportunity to pick up his first piece of silverware with the club as the Reds take on Crystal Palace in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 10.
The 2025/26 Premier League season then kicks off on August 15, with Liverpool hosting Bournemouth as it begins the defense of its title.
