Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike dismissed concerns about his position following Alexander Isak's move to Anfield.
The French international expressed his eagerness to develop and progress alongside the 25-year-old as he anticipates featuring with the British-record signing.
Ekitike extended Liverpool's advantage against Everton after slotting past Jordan Pickford following a clever through-ball from Ryan Gravenberch. The strike brought the former Eintracht Frankfurt star's tally to three goals in five Premier League outings with one assist. Following Isak's arrival, the 23-year-old - also a summer acquisition - has encountered speculation regarding his first-team prospects given the substantial outlay on his striking colleague.
However, the forward provided the ideal response to the continuing discussion, stating: "He's a very, very good player.
"I always watched him before I came here.
"For me, him being here is good, I can learn, improve, and it's competition, but I know we're going to play together, make the difference.
"One day, I hope we can share a pitch.
"It's good [to play with him], it's the coach's problem [to pick the squad]. Me? I just do my job, so it's good."
Ekitike's strike proved sufficient to establish Liverpool's six-point cushion at the Premier League summit ahead of this weekend's round of games.
There were moments when it seemed the Blues might be the next team to snatch a lead from Liverpool, especially after Idrissa Gueye's goal.
Ekitike expressed his pride in playing a crucial role in the Merseyside derby victory, stating: "Very good feeling, we knew it was going to be a tough game. It was.
"We had to fight until the last minute, I feel proud, it was a good test for me.
"So yeah to score my goal and win at the end, you can be proud and happy for the team. We just have to keep going.
"We made good movement, I seen Ryan, had space in behind and took it. I was a bit lucky because it went through the goalkeepers legs but it was good."
