Hugo Ekitike makes his feelings clear on Liverpool news with three-word message

5 hours ago 38

Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike has reached out to his former club Eintracht Frankfurt following the Champions League draw.

The Reds are set to face off against the Bundesliga team in this season's competition. Ekitike is poised to confront the club that revitalized his career and propelled him onto Liverpool's transfer radar. The German club sent a message to the forward, who left for Merseyside earlier this summer.

The official Eintracht Frankfurt X account shared an image of Ekitike donning their kit with the caption: "Heki is coming home," alongside the comment: "Nothing to add." The 23-year-old replied: "See you soon (kissing emoji)."

Ekitike has been on a scoring spree, netting three goals in as many matches and two in England's top-tier league during the thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle on Monday.

Ekitike's goal right after the second-half kick-off seemed to secure an insurmountable lead for the Reds; however, the Magpies rallied, causing Liverpool to relinquish a two-goal lead in consecutive matches – after Antoine Semenyo's brace nullified the advantage for Arne Slot's team.

The Frenchman and his colleagues will discover how the fixture schedule shapes up when it's released on Saturday, providing a clearer path to the Champions League knockouts.

Speaking about Ekitike in his press conference on Friday, Slot said: "He has made a big impact; build-ups, scoring, starting attacks. I think that is a bit more than last season, where when Lucho (Luis Diaz) played, he was part of it.

"But the most simple answer is his match fitness is what he can improve.

"I expect him to do a lot more without the ball than he already does. He can improve, which is normal, to adjust to a new league and style.

"Frankfurt didn't press as much as us; new country, new league, a lot for him to handle.

"And then after the break, it's Champions League.

"He was used to Europa League, so that's the main point for improvement, which is normal.

"He came later in preseason.

"So, to adapt to intensity levels without the ball is the small steps."
