Hugo Ekitike has sent a supportive message to Alexander Isak after Liverpool confirmed the striker has undergone surgery on his leg injury.
The club announced on Monday that Isak had gone under the knife after suffering a fractured fibula and ankle injury during Saturday’s win over Tottenham. The 26-year-old was forced off less than 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute after Micky van de Ven’s strong challenge as he scored Liverpool’s opener in the 2-1 victory.
No timeframe has been given for Isak’s recovery, although he will certainly face a long spell on the sidelines though, with a faint hope that he could return before the end of the season.

Arne Slot’s options in attack are becoming more and more depleted at the moment, with Mohamed Salah away on Africa Cup of Nations duty while Cody Gakpo is also out injured.
Isak’s injury means Ekitike will be Liverpool’s only recognized No.9 now for what could be the rest of the season. The French international reacted to the news of his fellow striker’s injury as he posted to his Instagram story on Monday night.
Ekitike shared a picture of himself playing alongside Isak, captioning it with the message: “Stay strong brother. Speedy recovery inshallah.”

Isak’s injury comes as a further blow to Liverpool, with Slot facing up to a long list of absentees ahead of their final game of 2025 against Wolves on December 27.
As well as Isak, Salah and Gakpo, the Reds are also expected to be without the injured Joe Gomez, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni, as well as the suspended Dominik Szoboszlai.

Conor Bradley is also a major doubt after being forced off at half-time in Saturday’s game against Spurs, with Slot set to give an update on the right-back’s injury during his press conference on Tuesday.
The growing list of absentees may well lead Liverpool to dip back into the transfer market for some more options, with the January window set to open in just over a week.
Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi have both been linked with moves to Anfield, with the latter of course having missed out on a switch during the summer after his deadline day transfer was called off at the eleventh hour.
