'I'd love to' - Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior makes Mikel Arteta admission ahead of Arsenal clash

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has been speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday evening's Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge

Liam Rosenior is hoping to emulate Mikel Arteta's tenure at Arsenal and spend more than six years as Chelsea head coach.

Arteta has been with the Gunners for more than six years and while the FA Cup is the only piece of silverware the Spaniard has won at the Emirates Stadium, he has taken the team to consistent title contenders and the big favourites for this season’s Premier League trophy. Like Rosenior, Arteta landed his first Premier League managerial job at a ‘big six’ club. Question marks have been placed on Rosenior for that exact reason but the newly-appointed Blues boss played that down.

"Everyone starts somewhere," said Rosenior. "It doesn't matter. I think Mikel is someone who has done an incredible job. He’s had time to build the way he wants his team to look.

"They're very well organised, they're very good in terms of their organisation in every aspect of the game. He's done a very, very good job there. Like I said, everyone has to start somewhere. It's just one of those things that everybody has a different background. Everyone has a different way of getting somewhere.

"And you respect everybody in the industry, because it's a difficult industry to be in. Especially as a coach, you're judged on every word, every action, every game. If you can't deal with that pressure, then you shouldn't be in the job.”

Rosenior is hoping to emulate Arteta, his opponent on Wednesday evening in the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, but acknowledged that is only possible with success at Stamford Bridge.

"I'd love to be here for six years or longer," added Rosenior. "I'd be here as long as possible but I'm aware that in order for that to happen, I need to win. It's as simple as that.

"I understand every club has a different project. This word, 'project', comes out a lot now in football but the idea in any project is that every game you play, you’re trying to win it.

"It is as simple as that. So for me, my focus, yes, I've got ideas about what I want the team to look like in a year's time, two years, three years' time, but I think I've got enough resources and enough tools with me now to win.

"I've made it clear to the players. We're going to give our best shot on Wednesday. The lads trained very, very well this morning. I will make a decision on the team in the next few days. Hopefully we're going to attack the game."

Chelsea welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, hoping to take the advantage before the return leg at the Emirates on February 3.
