Micky Van de Ven has reflected on the events that unfolded in Madrid on Tuesday and has made an honest admission on how he is feeling mentally as things continue to go from bad to worse for Tottenham.
The Lilywhites have now lost all four matches under Igor Tudor, are all but eliminated from the Champions League and are in real danger of losing their Premier League status.
More worringly, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for the Lilywhites, who are winless in the league since the start of 2026.
Tudor is now under threat of being sacked by Spurs, just a few weeks after replacing Thomas Frank at the helm, and one Tottenham star has admitted that these are extremely troubling times at N17.

Micky van de Ven admits Tottenham had ‘doomsday scenario’ against Atletico Madrid
Atletico raced into a 4-0 lead just 22 minutes into the game, and Antonin Kinsky, who was making his Champions League debut, was embarrassingly taken off just 17 minutes into the encounter, after making two poor errors.
When asked about his teammate coming off in tears, Van de Ven told Ziggo Sport: “It’s terrible for him too, he’s making his debut. You wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”
The Tottenham centre-back himself slipped for one of the home side’s early goals, and he confessed that all that could have gone wrong went wrong for the Lilywhites at the start of the first leg.
Reflecting on Tuesday’s tie, he said: “Terrible, to be honest: a doomsday scenario. Everything that could go wrong in the first twenty minutes went wrong. Everyone slips, including me. Those are moments you simply can’t do anything about. I can’t just stand here and start blaming the pitch.”

Van de Ven admits he is ‘completely done with’ looking at his phone
The Netherlands international confessed that being dealt one blow after another has knocked the stuffing out of him and his Tottenham teammates.
The centre-back revealed that he has even stopped checking his phone, given how badly things have been going at the club over recent months.
When asked about Tottenham’s current predicament, Van de Ven said: “I could, of course, give the standard talk that we all have to stick together and work hard, but we’re just being dealt a blow after a blow. It’s just really difficult.
“We have an important match this weekend that I can’t be at, because I’m suspended, of course. But it’s a truly terrible time. How am I feeling mentally? It’s tough, I can tell you. Really tough. I have to keep going; this is life. I’m not on my phone anymore; I’m completely done with it. Only family and stuff.”
