Incredible Pedro Porro stat proves he is Tottenham’s answer to Trent Alexander-Arnold

Pedro Porro has quietly become one of Tottenham’s most consistent creators, and a recent stat now underlines just how effective he has been in the final third since the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro has been an important figure for the club in recent seasons, featuring under three different managers since making the move to north London.

The Spaniard is widely recognised for his ability to impact games with his passing and delivery, whether it is a whipped cross from the overlap, a clever ball from deep, or a set-piece situation.

Those qualities have remained on display even under new head coach Thomas Frank, with Porro already registering two assists this season, both of which have come in European competition across the Champions League and the Super Cup.

Pedro Porro leads Tottenham in key assists stat

Porro’s creativity has been on full display for a while now, and according to Squawka, since the start of the 2023/24 season, no defender has registered more assists for a Premier League club in all competitions than Pedro Porro, who has managed an impressive 18.

In the 2023/24 campaign, the Spurs full-back recorded eight assists in total, all of which came in the Premier League.

He then improved on that tally during the 2024/25 season, producing nine assists across all competitions, with six in the league and three more in the Europa League.

Spurs still need more defensive consistency from Porro

While Pedro Porro’s attacking contributions continue to stand out at Tottenham, the other side of his game still leaves room for concern.

The Spaniard has often found himself exposed in one-v-one situations, with opposition wingers able to beat him too easily, and that vulnerability has at times cost Tottenham in key moments.

It was reported earlier this season that after just three league games, Porro had been the most dribbled past full-back in the division, a statistic that underlines the defensive improvements still required if he is to develop into a complete modern defender.
