Tottenham Hotspur were back on the training pitch ahead of their Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid, and there was one shock inclusion.

Tottenham Hotspur are now preparing for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Spurs come into the fixture looking to overturn a 5-2 loss at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, where Atletico were ruthless in their display, punishing every individual error.

That heavy defeat now leaves Tottenham with a mountain to climb as they look to overcome a massive three-goal deficit if they are to secure passage to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Lucas Bergvall and Cristian Romero spotted in Tottenham training

Igor Tudor continues to manage his side through their injury crisis, with a whopping 13 players expected to miss Wednesday’s game.

That, however, has not prevented the Tottenham boss from putting his players through their paces at Hotspur Way ahead of their big match-up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs need to be ahead by a three-goal margin to push the tie to extra time, while a four-goal margin will see them win the tie altogether.

In a shock twist, Lucas Bergvall was spotted back in open training with his Spurs teammates on Tuesday morning. It was originally thought that Bergvall wouldn’t be back until the middle of April.

Not only that, but Spurs were also boosted by the return of Cristian Romero to training following his concussion last week.

Meanwhile, Joao Palhinha, who suffered a knock to the head in the same incident, was training alone at Hotspur Way.

For supporters wondering how to watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Atletico Madrid, the match is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, with kick-off set for 8.00 pm BST.

The game will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on TNT Sports 3.
