Interesting Pedro Porro stat will both surprise and worry Tottenham fans

Pedro Porro has struggled to contribute in the final third for Tottenham this season, but one stat suggests that the issue may not be down to the Spaniard.

In his first couple of years at Spurs, Pedro Porro was posting Trent Alexander-Arnold-like numbers in the final third.

That trend broadly continued last season as well, with the Spurs right-back finishing the 2024-25 campaign with four goals and nine assists across all competitions.

However, his attacking output has fallen down a cliff so far this term, with the Spain international yet to score a goal and having just one assist to his name in 21 Premier League outings under Thomas Frank.

Pedro Porro is still creating a lot of chances for Tottenham

Many would see the full-back’s lack of final third contributions and conclude that he has regressed or that Frank’s system is not getting the best out of him.

However, WhoScored have now revealed that Porro is still creating a lot of chances for the Lilywhites.

The data analysis platform has shared that the former Sporting Lisbon man has created 24 chances this season, which is more than any other full-back across the Premier League.

Is Porro being let down by the Spurs forwards?

The fact that just one of the 24 chances he has created in the Premier League has been converted paints a sorry picture for Tottenham.

While Porro’s assist numbers in previous years may have been inflated by the fact that he was feeding the likes of Harry Kane or Heung-min Son, his lack of assists this season appears to be down to wasteful finishing.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that this will be partly remedied by the return of Dominic Solanke, who is undoubtedly the club’s best finisher.
