The race for Nico Paz is intensifying, with a London rival making an advance towards the attacking midfielder whom Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to eye after their failed summer approach.
The Argentine playmaker was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window, but the Lilywhites were unable to complete a deal.
It was reported that Tottenham were willing to pay €70m (£60.7m) for Paz, but in the end, several sources claimed that Real Madrid played a big role in preventing Spurs from signing him.
This was because Los Blancos have a buy-back option on the Argentine midfielder in 2026, which they intend to take up.

Chelsea enter race for Tottenham target Nico Paz
The 21-year-old has been outstanding since the start of the season for Como, having scored four goals and provided four assists for the Serie A side so far.
According to a report in CaughtOffside, Paz’s impressive displays have attracted the attention of Chelsea, who want to add firepower to their attack.
It is revealed that the Blues have now made an official enquiry for the Argentine’s availability, recognising his soaring potential.
However, the report adds that any deal will be complicated due to Madrid’s buy-back clause, which gives them significant leverage in any potential transfer discussions.
The outlet claims that Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to monitor the Como star since their failed summer move, and two other clubs are also in the race.
Spurs also face competition from Arsenal and Inter Milan for Paz
CaughtOffside go on to explain that Arsenal are also keeping an eye on Paz, with Mikel Arteta’s side trying to persuade the youngster to consider a Premier League switch instead of a return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Additionally, Inter Milan are also working to sign the attacking midfielder, having now become ‘serious contenders’ in the race.
It is alleged that the Nerazzurri are willing to put €58m (£51m) on the table for Paz in the January transfer window.
