Is Declan Rice fit to start for Arsenal vs Wolves? Injury news latest and FPL update

2 hours ago 3

Arsenal will host Wolves in the Premier League this weekend with Declan Rice a fitness doubt for the fixture.

Arsenal will have to make a late call on whether Declan Rice is fit enough to be included against Wolves in the Premier League this weekend.

The midfielder was one of several Gunners absentees for the midweek Champions League win over Club Brugge in Belgium. In his case, it was only down to illness.

Therefore, speculation has been rife over a return to Mikel Arteta's starting XI when they host the Premier League's last-placed team Wolves on Saturday night. The aim for Arsenal will be to maintain their advantage at the top of the table, after it was cut down to just two points last weekend.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz, Cristhian Mosquera and Max Dowman are all ruled out, due to injury, while there are also question marks over the fitness of William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Leandro Trossard. Suspended from the fixture is Riccardo Calafiori.

Here, football.london takes a look at the chances of Rice being able to play for Arsenal against Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.

What has been said about Declan Rice's illness?

Speaking ahead of the Wolves match on Friday, Arteta said: "Let's see how he goes today, he was ill.

"Normally in a few days, but let's see how he gets on. Let's see how he is today, when he was ill. That's an illness, normally in a few days he gets resolved.

"But we have to wait and see how far he can push."

Will Declan Rice be fit to face Wolves in Game Week 16?

There is still no final word on whether or not Rice will definitely be available to face Wolves this weekend.

The FPL website lists Rice as having a 75% chance of being able to feature for the Premier League leaders on Saturday night. This indicates that there's still a good chance he will be able to play some part at the Emirates Stadium.

Elsewhere, Saliba, Timber and Trossard have also been given a 75% chance of featuring.

When is the FPL deadline for Game Week 16?

The FPL deadline is typically 90 minutes before kick-off of the first scheduled fixture of any game week.

So players will be happy to learn that without any 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday this weekend, the deadline is later than usual. The deadline will be at 1:30pm, in time for Chelsea vs Everton and Liverpool vs Brighton, which both get underway at 3:00pm.
