Manchester City star Jack Grealish is off to Everton to revive his career and he will be wished well by so many Blues

Jack Grealish's career at Manchester City effectively ended in May. Left on the bench for the FA Cup final while Pep Guardiola picked a debutant to come on instead of him, he was then left out of the squad entirely for the final match of the season.

"Of course Jack has to play. He's an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn't happen this season and last season either," the manager said after the game.

"He needs to do it - with us or another place. It's a question for Jack, his agent, and the club."

Guardiola had grown tired of waiting for the Grealish from those pivotal months in the Treble campaign to reappear, and there aren't many City fans who would disagree. He still had his moments on the pitch last season, there were just nowhere near enough.

That didn't stop the love for Grealish from the fanbase though - he got one of the loudest receptions when the squad trained last week in front of supporters. That may seem odd for a player who has underwhelmed for at least three of his four years, but not when you consider what Grealish gave back to those fans.

His reputation for being a man of the people was justified, whether it be inviting families he had met into his hospitality box, or holding up the queue for medals at the Super Cup to speak to a young girl who was visually impaired. The club would receive more requests from fans for messages from Grealish than just about any player, and Grealish would in nearly all cases oblige swiftly with genuine responses telling them he was thinking of them.

As the City squad travelled down to Fulham without him on the final weekend of the season, Grealish had every right to be annoyed. However, that didn't stop him from sending over a message of support to a City fan who had fallen ill and would sadly die soon after.

Even as he faced up to his City career being effectively over, Grealish still took the time out of his day to record a message for the supporter of a team who he would soon no longer be playing for. He had nothing to gain from it but he did it anyway because he thought it might make a difference to somebody who needed it.

Those touches of human kindness are why there continues to be so much goodwill for Grealish from the City fans and hope that he can find his game again at Everton.
