James Maddison has not played for Tottenham this season after suffering a knee injury in August that required surgery

Tottenham star James Maddison has admitted he is "getting there" in his latest update on the severe knee injury suffered back in August. The 29-year-old is pushing to return before the end of the season with that evidenced by his latest post on social media.

On Wednesday, Maddison uploaded a 57-second Tik Tok video showing his trip to Manchester for further tests and exercises to help with the final stages of rehabilitation. He captioned the post: "ACL testing after 6 months. Effffffin cool."

Over some clips from the day, he said: "Morning people, off to Manchester today so the Mumsy is giving me a lift, just like old times. Six months post-ACL reconstruction and we're off to Manchester to do some testing in this cool room with loads of cameras and sensors.

"There is places in London you can do it but this one had the best reviews and I know players that used it in the past. Basically, I had loads of sensors stuck all over my body.

"You do some jogging, jumping, change of direction and hopping and they will check on the camera how your body is moving to see if I'm offloading the knee? Am I weight-distributing both sides equally? It's all valuable information as it shapes the rest of the rehab of what I need to work. We're six months in and we're getting there."

Maddison is one of many Tottenham stars currently out injured, but Igor Tudor has been handed some major boosts over the last week. Alongside positive results against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Conor Gallagher and Lucas Bergvall all returned from injury in the latter.

The mood around Spurs has changed significantly because of those two games, and things could get even better this Sunday. Nottingham Forest are the visitors to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it is a real relegation six-pointer.

The Lilywhites sit on 30 points with Forest and West Ham just one behind, though the latter are in the relegation zone on goal difference. Wins for either Spurs or Forest could propel them above Leeds United.

Joao Palhinha could feature this weekend against Forest if he passes concussion protocols. He was training separately from the group ahead of the Champions League last-16 match against Atletico. Maddison was also out on the grass at Hotspur Way by himself.

The likes of Mohammed Kudus, Ben Davies and Wilson Odobert are all recovering with the latter eyeing a return in late 2026. Dejan Kulusevski is another unlikely to play this season, with a major knee issue already seeing him miss the last 10 months.

Sweden boss Graham Potter issued an update on his fitness ahead of national team fixtures against Sweden and Romania. He said: "Dejan is making progress but not as quickly as we would have liked."
