Jamie Carragher has fired a warning to Mohamed Salah over his next club, saying that moving to the Saudi Pro League would signal that his career is over - as it has with his previous teammates

Jamie Carragher said he does not think Mohamed Salah will move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, and warned that doing so would signal the end of his career.
The 33-year-old confirmed last week that he will leave the Reds at the end of the season, and speculation immediately began about where the winger will end up this summer. Saudi chiefs have long admired Salah, and even failed with a $150 million offer back in the summer window of 2023.
However, Carragher questions whether now is the right time for Salah to take advantage of the immense wealth on offer in the Saudi Pro League, with the Liverpool star still highly motivated by succeeding at the game’s highest echelons.

“I can see him in Italy with one of the giants. I just think your career's over when you go there [Saudi Arabia]. I think he'll still be looking at his Champions League record or how many goals he can get
“I still think he thinks: 'I'm still one of the best players, and me leaving now is not the end of my top-level career, I've still got something to give'.”

Salah previously played in Serie A with Roma and has been linked with a return to Italy since news of his imminent Liverpool exit broke. He also recently became the first African to reach 50 Champions League goals, with only nine players ahead of him in the standings.
Carragher’s comments about players moving to Saudi Arabia when their “career's over”, will not be well received by Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino and more, all of whom moved to the Middle East after leaving Liverpool.
Henderson has since returned to the Premier League with Brentford and managed to work his way back into the England setup, while Firmino is currently playing in the Qatari Stars league, with Mane and Fabinho still in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s national team director Ibrahim Hassan revealed earlier this week that there is no shortage of interest in Salah in Europe.

“Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe,” Hassan told Egyptian broadcaster On Sports. “I have heard about offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and clubs in the Italian league.”
Another mooted possibility is a move to Major League Soccer. League commissioner Don Garber last week said he would “love” to see Salah play in the USA, while San Diego FC owner Mohamed Mansour also told APF that Salah would be an “asset” to any team.
But Hassan feels that would be a misstep for Liverpool’s no.11. “A move to the Major League? He would be far too out of the spotlight,” he said.
“You won’t remember Salah any more than I remember [Lionel] Messi now, I don’t even try to watch him.”
