Jamie Redknapp saw Mohamed Salah spat coming after Arne Slot decision

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp may have inadvertently predicted Mohamed Salah’s outburst when he spoke about the winger on Saturday.

Salah’s time at Anfield looks as though it could be coming to an end after he launched an extraordinary tirade against Liverpool and Arne Slot following yesterday’s draw at Leeds, in which he was named on the bench for a third game in a row.

The 33-year-old claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club, and revealed that his relationship with Slot had broken down, while suggesting he could play his final game for the Reds next weekend.

Salah’s outburst may well have been expected by some, given he does have previous for reacting angrily to being named on the bench, having snapped at Jurgen Klopp during the final few weeks of the German’s tenure.

And Redknapp may have not been too surprised to see his explosive comments, having predicted Salah wouldn’t take being named on the bench again at Leeds well.

"Slot has definitely nailed his colours to the mast with Mohamed Salah," Redknapp said on Sky Sports ahead of the game, and before Salah’s interview. "We know now that he is not in his plans in the minute.

Arne Slot and Mohamed Salah are both facing uncertain futures at Liverpool

"They are going to lose him possibly for eight games, with AFCON. But that is a massive call [to bench Salah for third game in a row].

"I would like to see a bit of consistency in Slot's team. Ekitike and Isak... pick your best team for whatever it takes to win today because this is going to be a tough game.

"Salah won't enjoy being on the bench, running up the touchline getting abuse from the Leeds fans. If he comes on today, he has to make a bigger impact than he did at Sunderland.

"But he has been out of form, Van Dijk has been out of form, there has been lots of players out of form. They have to play their way out of it."

Whether Salah will play his way back into the side looks uncertain now though, with the Egyptian having now suggested that his last game as a Liverpool player could come before he leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations.

"I don't know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club,” Salah said.

Mohamed Salah has suggested he could play his final game for Liverpool next weekend

"This club, I always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much; I will always do. I called my mum yesterday - you guys didn't know if I would start or not, but I knew.

"Yesterday I said to them, come to the Brighton game. I don't know if I am going to play or not, but I am going to enjoy it. In my head, I'm going to enjoy that game because I don't know what is going to happen now.

"I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go the Africa cup. I don't know what is going to happen when I am there."
