Jayden Danns' eagerly anticipated return to the pitch was abruptly halted by a concerning injury scare as Liverpool's undefeated Premier League 2 streak came to an end at Manchester City.
Danns clutched his hamstring just 29 minutes into a 2-0 loss for the under-21s at the Joie Stadium on Monday. The 19-year-old forward was making his first appearance since sustaining a severe hamstring injury whilst playing for Rob Page's team back on September 27.
With 18-year-old Senegalese center-back Mor Talla Ndiaye making his debut off the bench following his January transfer, Liverpool suffered their first defeat in 10 matches in the competition.

Liverpool conceded in disappointing fashion on the 15-minute mark as City worked the ball down the left and a low cross from Christian McFarlane from the byline was tapped in by the unmarked Floyd Samba.
Reds goalkeeper Armin Pecsi made a solid save to deny Ryan McAidoo before Will Wright, who replaced Danns, narrowly missed with a shot wide after a solo run from inside his own half.

Kieran Morrison, awarded his maiden call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad earlier in the day, fired narrowly wide from distance shortly before the interval with Liverpool previously indebted to two fine pieces of recovery defending from Calvin Ramsay to thwart City extending their advantage.
The Reds proved far more threatening in attack following the break, with Wright seeing a header cleared off the line and Tommy Pilling having a clever low free-kick saved.
However, City extended their lead on 62 minutes when Isaiah Dada-Mascoll was left unmarked to head home a corner from McAidoo, with Kyle Kelly coming close to a consolation late on.
