Jeremie Frimpong says 3 things have helped him settle at Liverpool since transfer

2 hours ago 17

Jeremie Frimpong has opened up on how his first weeks as a Liverpool player have gone, and revealed it has been easy for him to settle into the new environment.

The Dutchman joined for a fee of $40 million (£30M) earlier this summer and is part of what has become an exciting transfer window for the Reds. Frimpong has been joined by former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz at Anfield, plus Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Hugo Ekitike.

In a summer of change, Frimpong has not found it hard to acclimatize. He has been seen laughing and joking with the squad during the behind-the-scenes videos and has struck up an instant relationship with Curtis Jones. Knowing three players from the international scene has also helped the 24-year-old.

“The likes of Flo, Milos, myself, we're playing great players you know so it makes it easier to play,” Frimpong told LFCTV on Saturday, following the pre-season encounter against AC Milan.

“Yeah of course, like I said, I knew a few of the boys, so obviously it made it easier for me. All the boys are great. They're all good, we all get along so it to ease your all of us.”

Frimpong, like the majority of Liverpool’s players, got 45 minutes under his belt during Saturday’s 4-2 defeat by Milan.

Like in previous friendlies, the former Manchester City youth-team player was deployed in a more advanced right wing position, compared to his more natural right-back role.

Frimpong’s versatility was key in Liverpool’s decision to sign him this summer, and the Netherlands international said he is ready to play wherever Arne Slot thinks he can have the biggest impact.

“For me, anywhere I play, I play the same. I'm an attacking full-back, you know, so if I play right wing, right-back, right wing-back, I play the same anyway.

“So, yeah, wherever the manager wants to play me, that's what I play.”

While disappointed by the result on Saturday, Frimpong reiterated that gaining fitness levels is the priority at this stage.

“Of course, even though it's pre-season, no one likes to lose. But pre-season is to get fit, so we're getting there, we're getting fit.”

Liverpool has since flown to Japan ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Yokohama F. Marinos.

After the match in Tokyo, the squad will return to Merseyside and face Athletic Bilbao in a double header at Anfield on August 4, which comes six days before the Community Shield at Wembley.
