Jeremy Jacquet sustained a shoulder injury while playing for Rennes on Saturday, which forced the defender to be replaced in the 69th minute.

The blow comes at the end of the week in which his £60 million ($82M) transfer to Liverpool was confirmed, and Jacquet required medical attention before gingerly making his way off the pitch. He was helped by Rennes' physio as he trudged off.

Jacquet appeared to be significant pain, with Mahamadou Nagida replacing the 20-year-old.

Esteban Lepaul had handed Rennes an early lead at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, but Lens fought back to win 3-1 via goals from Odsonne Edouard, Ruben Aguilar and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Liverpool will certainly hope the injury is not serious, although the defender will not meet up with his new teammates until this summer.
