John Henry's wife shares emotional statement on eve of Liverpool vs Man Utd

2 weeks ago 35

Linda Pizzuti, the wife of Liverpool's principal owner John W. Henry, has posted a touching tribute marking 15 years of Fenway Sports Group's ownership of the club.

Pizzuti has emphasized that the ownership group remains ambitious about future accomplishments during its time at Anfield, with her statement coming just days before Liverpool takes on Manchester United in the Premier League.

This week commemorates 15 years since FSG, formerly known as New England Sports Ventures, purchased the club from Tom Hicks and George Gillett. FSG finalized its acquisition on October 15, 2010, after a High Court ruling sanctioned its deal, with Pizzuti maintaining a visible presence at the club, recently attending fixtures in April and May when Liverpool secured the Premier League title and subsequently raised the trophy at Anfield.

In an Instagram message, the Boston Globe newspaper's chief executive even suggested the potential arrival of a new mascot alongside Mighty Red, writing: "My first tweet about LFC 15 years ago was asking this amazing community about what songs I needed to learn for my first trip to Anfield.

"The responses were warm, welcoming and very witty. I quickly fell in love with this club and the people who are part of it.

"I learned about the history, the traditions, the stories passed through the generations. The remarkable collection of trophies.

"The painful moments, the tragedies, the historic triumphs... this club had so much of it, and a global fanbase that had passion, intelligence, and a lot of feedback and opinions.

"In our 15 years together, we have shared our own painful moments, epic comebacks, heartbreaking tragedies and new historic triumphs.

"We made new legends, and added new stories to the historic lore of this world-famous club. And we collected some lovely new silver of all shapes and sizes.

"We preserved, restored and expanded the historic Anfield stadium. We found ways to channel the passion of this fanbase into acts of kindness and real impact and service at the LFC Foundation.

"You all helped me bring Mighty Red to life - to the delight of young fans around the world. (Is it time to bring in Ruby, his younger sister?)

"I have loved all of it, and am so grateful to be part of this with all of you. Thank you for welcoming me and my family - my kids have grown up with the club. Thanks for sharing your stories with me - I have loved celebrating with you and hearing from so many of you.

"I appreciate your comments (especially the clever ones), and hearing about what LFC has meant to you or your family. And I loved having the chance to buy some of you a beer in person while at Anfield.

"'Our work isn't done', we have so much more ahead of us, and I feel so grateful and lucky to be part of it and share it all with you."
