A failed transfer may not be the end of the story, as a fresh opportunity could now open the door for a Tottenham midfielder who almost left the club during the British summer window.
Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day on September 1 was more about departures than arrivals, with the club sanctioning more sales than new purchases.
Bryan Gil managed to secure an £8.5million move to Spanish side Girona, while Manor Solomon found a temporary escape through a loan deal to Villarreal after a collapsed move to Crystal Palace left his future uncertain.
Yet not every planned exit materialised, with Yves Bissouma seeing his proposed transfer break down. The Mali international, who was expected to move on before the window shut, ultimately remained in north London, at least for now.
Fenerbahce show late interest in Yves Bissouma
According to a fresh report from the Daily Mail, there could still be movement on Bissouma’s future, with Turkish side Fenerbahce reportedly considering a move even though the British transfer window has closed.
Bissouma had been close to joining Galatasaray in the final days of the English window, but concerns over his fitness prevented the deal from going through and left him stranded at Tottenham.
However, the situation may change quickly, as Fenerbahce are monitoring him closely and could strike a deal if the right offer is put forward, with the Turkish transfer window not shutting until this Friday.
It was originally reported that Jose Mourinho had shut down a Fenerbahce move for Yves Bissouma after giving a negative review. However, the Special One has since parted ways with the Turkish club, which could perhaps reopen a late path.
Bissouma slipping down Thomas Frank’s pecking order at Tottenham
Bissouma is yet to feature competitively under new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, with his last competitive appearance coming in the UEFA Europa League final.
The midfielder was involved during pre-season but picked up an injury in training before Spurs’ Premier League opener against Burnley, which has since seen him fall behind in the squad hierarchy.
Frank has already signalled that Bissouma is not central to his plans, leaving him out of Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League league phase squad after also excluding him from the Super Cup squad earlier in the season, with late returns to training reportedly not helping his case.
